In a context were we get absorbed by a vast amount of media, how do we place our emotions within the digital realm? How does social media makes us feel?
So You Are Human… Noted, is an interactive audiovisual space that explores the emotional self.
An installation that aims to bring attention to how we feel beyond consuming, allowing the viewer to question their emotions when confronting digital content.
During the process of the work, research within social media platforms was crutial, collecting different content that will serve as data for the installation. These videos were collected from TikTok and chosen based on the criteria of how they could make the viewer feel, bringing a larger spectrum of emotions that can be triggered when experiencing the work.
By the use of an interactive control panel, the espectators get to map how they are feeling, whether is influenced by the videos displayed on the main screen, or an outside factor. However, once the mapping starts, the choices of the viewer will feed the screen with new content, that is linked -somehow- to the selected emotion.
When confronting the different amounts of videos, the viewer gets in isolation with the content. By the use of a curved screen that surrounds the espectator, the relation that we create with our phones is being brought into the moment.
‘So You Are Human... Noted’ is a space where both digital and physical come together for the viewer to bring their attention to the moment, to the content, but also to themselves. An installation that allows to get in touch and visualize how we could be feeling. To bring attention to their emotional self in the digital space. A work that feeds itself through the emotions of the viewer.
A series of three showreels that showcases part of the extensive collection of the Dutch Filmmaker Willy Mullens. A work made for the Sound & Vision Institute, in collaboration with Melissa Van Limburg.
The Showreels consist of three different themes that Mullens tended to frame within his work: People, Landscape, and Industrial Machinery.
You can check the showreels, it’s content and source here. You can also see them during the REMIX Festival by the Sound & Vision Institute on the 3r of October.
For this project, watching and analizying his work was a keypoint to understand the beauty of compossition that he brought into his films. An element that inspired the concept of contrast that different frames could bring into perspective. With this, we aim to incentivate and capture the curiosity of the viewer, to seek for narratives both in the visuals as on the stories behind the shots.
The goal of these showreels is not only to show the collection of Willy Mullens, but also inspire more artist to creativly reuse content from open sources as this one.
This magazine brings together the fields of nature and architecture, featuring a collection of diverse journals focused on these topics.
The source material for the articles included in the publication were gathered from OASE magazine.
Gardening between Concrete positions nature as a crucial element in architectural projects. By combining elements, the publication aims to recreate the experience of gardening as the reader turns the pages.
By the use of see through paper, elements like notations, sources, page numbers and images, overlap the pages creating new layers of compositions around the articles.
I’m always curious to explore different media and approaches!
